Can we all agree that communication is vital to the success of any organization? No matter if you're a nonprofit, club, business, or religious organization, if you can't get your story out to people effectively, then you're not living up to your potential. This goes for communication WITHIN an organization as well – staying connected with each other is so essential, especially in this time of remote teams. Today we're sharing some of the methods of communication that WTE recommends.
Microsoft's Office 365 is the cloud-based version of the traditional Microsoft Office email and software program suite. Using the cloud subscription-based service, you will always have the most up-to-date version of the software. O365 comes with different features based on the service level you pay for, so is tailored to provide what you will actually use. For instance, if you use email accounts on your domain (eg. firstname.lastname@example.org), Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, and need some online storage, there's a plan for you. Most of the apps are available as online OR desktop versions, too. WTE is an authorized Microsoft Office reseller, so we can take the complexity out of setting up your Office solution. Social media channels are very effective forms of communication – most people have a social presence. Whether that be to customers, donors, or members, using social media such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and even TikTok can be vital pieces of your communication strategy. The key is to learn to use it effectively on the specific channels that hit your target audience. Contact Us for Help with Social Media
Marketing to customers via email can be a VERY effective means of communication. While this method may seem more old-fashioned, most people still check their email accounts and look for deals, pertinent information, or even opportunities to serve in their community. To avoid your domain name getting blacklisted by email providers, you should be using an email marketing system to send your emails. WTE resells AgileMail Pro as our emarketing solution. It's the system we use for sending these newsletters each week. Contact Us About AMP
Slack is a communications tool designed to help with a group's internal communication. It allows groups to set up internal channels so that instant messaging is confined to the group. You can instantly share anything, and video calling with screen share is a wonderful tool that's included as well. Slack can also be integrated to connect to other apps like OneDrive, Gmail, and Teams. For smaller organizations, the FREE version of Slack may have everything you need.
Band is another great tool for internal communication for small to medium sized organizations. The format is more like a Facebook newsfeed as opposed to the direct messaging format of Slack. It has a built-in calendar with events, reminders, location mapping, and RSVPs which can export data to other calendars. Posts can also include images, videos, and live streaming, and since Band is free, it's ideal for non-profits such as churches and social organizations.
It's obvious that communication is key to any organization and that there are many ways to communicate. If you have questions about communication methods, please reach out to us. We'll be happy to help you figure out a strategy that works best for your organization.
